What about Pricing?
“Fair and simple” is how I describe what I charge for what I do. There are no retainers, no inflated hourly rates. I bill by the project, which means you and I discuss the following three items in advance: 1) what you want done, 2) by when, and 3) my price and terms for doing that work. Based on what we've agreed to, I’ll write up something called a Project Scope that describes the details of the project. Once we've both signed that Project Scope, I start work on your project. How's that for being fair and simple?
What about Guarantees?
When you hire me to write something for you, I guarantee your complete satisfaction with the words I’ll deliver. My clients are typically quite pleased when they read what I’ve written, but if for some reason you're not, I'll revise it – on my own time and at my expense – to meet your guidelines. Let me know the specific changes you want made and I’ll get them back to you quickly and without charge. Typically, one round of minor revisions – you and I fine-tuning the words I’ve written for you – is a normal part of any writing assignment I accept.
As for guaranteeing results for the words I’ve written, the ethics codes of the marketing industry's major trade organization prohibit that. Why? Because I don’t control all the variables of your project, those potentially results-altering events and items such as your product, your market, your lists, your price, consumer preferences and the economy among others. If neither of us is satisfied with the results my words helped to produce, I will gladly continue working with you to explore ways to increase the response generated by our joint effort.
What about Timing?
Typically, I prefer two to three weeks for most projects – time to plan, write and sharpen my words to maximize your results. But if your project is urgent, let me know what you need and when you need it. If we agree on the assignment, I guarantee you'll have what you’re looking for when promised.
What about Revisions?
At the time I deliver the work we’ve agreed to, you and I – or another individual you authorize – will review that work and “fine-tune” it by identifying specific changes, if any, you may require. The cost of that initial round of minor revisions is included in the fee agreed to for the project, provided those revisions are made within thirty (30) days of when you receive my work and those revisions are not the result of changes in or to that project following submission of my work. Anything other than those minor revisions will be billed as an additional cost.
What about Confidentiality?
Because I value the privacy of my clients as much as they do, I do not at any time divulge to anyone any information about them without their written permission, including the names of their companies or of the people with whom I work. That I do voluntarily. For clients who prefer that I sign a written Confidentiality Agreement, I also do that.
What about Samples?
I’ll gladly show you samples of work I’ve done…but only for those clients whose names I am at liberty to divulge. One thing you’ll instantly notice about my samples is that no two are alike, or even resemble each other. That’s because no two companies have identical marketing challenges. Even if they did, a solution that helps one company is unlikely to help another because they sell different products or services to different target markets. But certainly, I’ll proudly show you samples of my work. |
